THE ESSAY CONTEST
The contest is open to all students, Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The contest consists of a 90 minute timed essay written in English or Korean.

Students will have 90 minutes to write an essay on the prompt below. Students may not bring in any outside material and will be expected to turn in all work created during the contest, including outlines and notes.
PROMPT FOR KINDERGARTEN – 6th GRADE:
Write a letter to Patriot Yoo Gwan Soon. (유관순 열사에게 보내는 편지)
PROMPT FOR 7TH – 12TH GRADE:
What makes you proud of Korea? (왜 너는 한국을 사랑하나)
Scoring will be based on the following criteria:
- How well they directly write about the subject
- Their use of examples to explain their ideas
- Organization and Grammar
